Food-scoring system to debut next year

A new food nutrition-value scoring system called the Overall Nutritional Quality Index will be introduced to grocery stores in 2008. The system will assign scores to foods by considering fiber content, saturated fat, sugar and nutrients. Grocery distribution and services firm Topco Associates will make the system available to its network of grocers but will not mandate its adoption.
