Study: Stereo mammography enhances breast cancer diagnosis

Stereoscopic digital mammography was able to reduce false-positive results by almost 50% in a U.S. study of more than 1,000 women at risk for breast cancer. Researchers said the technology, which allows radiologists to get a 3-D view of breast tissue, could detect lesions missed by standard mammography and also could spot possible malignant calcifications.
