Alaska governor criticizes Interior decision on polar bears:

The Department of the Interior's "critical habitat" designation for polar bears could slow oil and natural gas drilling, job generation and the economy in Alaska, said Gov. Sean Parnell. "Such consultations are increasingly being misused to challenge responsible resource development," Parnell said. Alaska may challenge the decision because it does not believe it was backed by "sound science," according to Parnell's office.
