Analyst: FCC's Qualcomm decision may bode well for DISH

The Federal Communications Commission's approval last Tuesday of a spectrum swap between AT&T and Qualcomm could auger well for companies such as DISH Network who want to complete transfers in order to provide wireless broadband services, according to Macquarie Capital's Kevin Smithen. The agency's decision and statements suggest it is growing more sympathetic to the transfer of spectrum licenses. Other analysts disagreed, arguing that the FCC may have approved the swap as a "consolation prize" for its skepticism about AT&T's proposed purchase of T-Mobile USA.
