Autistic teens are less socially active outside of school

Forty-three percent of teens with autism never see friends outside of school, while 54% never get phone calls from friends, a study of more than 11,000 teens in special education found. Poor communication as well as impaired conversational ability were linked to the reduced levels of social activity, researchers reported in the journal PLoS One.
