Yogurt with vitamin D may curb CVD risk in diabetes patients

Consuming a vitamin D-fortified yogurt drink for 12 weeks helped improve fasting glucose, insulin and A1C levels and reduced cholesterol rates and inflammation in participants, according to a study in BMC Medicine. The findings suggest that raising vitamin D levels to normal in diabetes patients may help stave off cardiovascular disease, the researchers said.
