Grocery buys reflect dietary shortfalls in report

The report "Assessing the Healthfulness of Consumers' Grocery Purchases" found people are not meeting federal dietary guidelines, and the average shopping basket did not improve in healthfulness between 1998 and 2006. Shoppers are not buying enough fruits, vegetables and foods with whole grains, the study found.
