Report: Grocery purchases reflect dietary shortfalls

A report that examines U.S. food purchases found that consumers are not meeting federal dietary guidelines, and the healthfulness of the average shopping basket did not improve between 1998 and 2006. Shoppers are not buying enough fruits, vegetables and foods with whole grains, the study found.
