WTO approves proposed sanctions on U.S. goods

The United States' failure to repeal an act that gives American companies the proceeds from "anti-dumping duties levied against foreign goods" caused the WTO to approve tariffs to be levied against certain U.S. exported goods. Both the EU and Canada have said they will impose tariffs if the Byrd Amendment is not repealed. The U.S. says that it plans to comply with the WTO ruling and that sanctions are unnecessary.
