Construction site theft on the rise, companies try new tactics

According to the National Equipment Register, the value of commercial construction, highway and agriculture equipment stolen is up to $1 billion, and stolen equipment claims make up more than 50% of all construction insurance claims. To deter thieves, more construction sites are now hiring security guards, installing video cameras, investing in global positioning systems for equipment, using devices similar to The Club for cars' steering wheels and installing battery-powered alarm systems on-site.
