Water claims not excluded from coverage, federal judge rules

Many New Orleans homeowners whose houses were damaged by water after Hurricane Katrina are not excluded from coverage under their insurance policies, a federal judge in Louisiana ruled. The judge denied motions by some insurers seeking to stop policyholders from receiving claims. Some insurance industry officials believe the ruling will be overturned on appeal.
