Mississippi trial attorney indicted for bribery

A federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted Mississippi trial attorney Richard Scruggs on charges of offering a bribe to a Mississippi state judge. The alleged bribe was connected to a fee dispute with another attorney. Scruggs negotiated settlements with insurance companies on behalf of homeowners after Hurricane Katrina hit the state. He represented Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., in a settlement with State Farm.
