DHS proposes overhaul of color-coded security system

The Department of Homeland Security hopes to end its color-coded threat ranking and replace it with a system that provides "actionable information based on the latest intelligence." One official said the the new system could involve "a DHS-FBI bulletin to local law enforcement, a briefing to cargo carriers" or a statement specific "to residents of a particular metropolitan area."
