Miriam Hospital in Rhode Island has been recognized by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center three times, thanks to a team of nurses, physicians, stroke coordinators, radiologists, neurologists and CT scan technologists who are skilled in immediate diagnosis and treatment. Nurse members of the team ensure that patients are triaged quickly, order the necessary tests and help in preparing tPA treatment, among other tasks.
