CTIA-The Wireless Association today will introduce a smartphone application ratings system that rates apps based on their appropriateness for various audiences -- "everyone" to "adults only" -- under a voluntary program run by the Entertainment Software Rating Board. Leading carriers including AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular are participating. Microsoft will also adopt the app ratings. "It's an important milestone in our effort to make information available for parents and their kids," said David Diggs, a CTIA vice president.
