In-store mapping takes Google Maps to the next level

Google is adding building interiors to its Maps service, allowing users to navigate inside buildings with floor plans, such as airports, malls and selected stores. That's potentially a big deal for marketers, yielding fine-grained location data about the specific stores and even shelves that users are searching for or approaching. "When Google Maps goes inside, Google can take you all the way from searching for something to holding it in your hand, [while] advertising and data-gathering all the way," writes Jon Mitchell.
