CBRC official says banks' bad assets are manageable

Given the volume of loans outstanding, bad assets at Chinese banks are well within the bounds of manageability, said Cai Esheng, vice chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission. Meanwhile, China CITIC Bank President Zhu Xiaohuang says effects of the slowing economy will become apparent only later in banks' ratios of nonperforming loans.
