CBS aims to implement deferral system for MSM blood donors

Canadian Blood Services said it is on the verge of implementing a blood donation deferral system for men who have sex with men. In a plan submitted to Health Canada, the organization said that in place of the current prohibition on MSM donors, it is considering establishing a system that would allow MSM who have not had sexual intercourse for five to 10 years to donate. CBS spokesman Ron Vezina said the group is confident it has enough evidence to back the move.
