How "time-off plans" can be used to reduce overtime costs

Companies can gain more control over employees' earnings by using "time-off plans," which enable employers to avoid offering overtime pay to nonexempt workers who occasionally work more than 40 hours a week. Under the plans, employees are given time off in some weeks in order to offset the overtime they work during other weeks.
