Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to BYOD

The bring-your-own-device IT trend is gaining converts among the world's workforce, but almost half of bosses find it easier to ignore the trend than to embrace it, according to a survey from Ovum in which 46.1% of respondents say their companies turn a blind eye to their mobile device usage. Experts say that by failing to proactively address BYOD with solutions such as mobile device management, enterprise IT shops may be putting their companies at risk. "The thing we find so shocking is that there are such a range of tools out there that make it easy for IT to manage BYOD environments. At the end of the day, chances are you'll have a data loss event with BYOD," said Ovum's Adrian Drury.
