Astronomers have discovered what they say is the largest black hole ever found -- with a mass 17 million times that of our own sun -- sitting at the center of the NGC1277 galaxy. The team from the University of Texas made the discovery using the Hobby-Eberly Telescope as part of ongoing research into how galaxies and black holes are related. "It's almost all black hole. This could be the first object in a new class of galaxy-black hole systems," scientist Karl Gebhardt said of NGC1277.
