Sprint will charge iDEN subs an additional $10 a month

Sprint Nextel will encourage its Nextel customers to abandon its iDEN network by charging them an added $10 a month if they don't transfer to the carrier's push-to-talk service in January, the company said Thursday. Sprint is phasing out its 2G iDEN service next year, although a number of loyal customers remain on the walkie-talkie network. Also on the PTT front, AT&T will release the Samsung Rugby III, a rugged flip phone priced at $100, on Dec. 14.
