Economic outlook improves, holiday shopping looks robust

The U.S. economy is rebounding well from the summer's hurricanes, as seen in record new-home sales in October and a rise in consumer confidence in November, analysts say. While consumer confidence took a dive after Hurricane Katrina, rates jumped 14 points in November to 98.9, and early data indicate that the holiday shopping season is seeing a strong start.
