Budget airlines urge DOT to preserve access to airports

The Department of Transportation has heard comments from a group of low-cost and charter airlines seeking to keep their access to busy airports, such as John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. "We've got to find a solution to airport delays that doesn't shut out smaller airlines, which in many cases are offering premium service at lower fares," said Samuel Skinner, vice chairman of Virgin America and a former transportation secretary.
