Commission OKs California solar power line

The California Public Utilities Commission last week approved a transmission line that will carry renewable energy from the state's desert areas to coastal urban centers. Observers say the approval may speed up solar projects now in the planning stage. The $537 million, 500-kilovolt line will span 170 miles across the state.
