Hawker Beechcraft looks to military contracts to ride out downturn

Aircraft maker Hawker Beechcraft Corp. is working to expand its contracts from the Pentagon and foreign militaries amid the slump in corporate jet and small aircraft sales. The company has provided the Pentagon with an aircraft for basic pilot training for several years, and it now has a new version of the aircraft -- a two-seat, single-engine, high-performance propeller craft that could be used either for advanced training or as an attack airplane.
