More shopped, compared by mobile phone on Black Friday

Cell phone users checked their handsets for bargains, shopped for holiday gifts and paid their bills via mobile phones in much larger numbers than ever before on Black Friday, according to various reports and yardsticks. Mobile payments via PayPal leaped by more than 600% from a year ago -- albeit from a very small baseline -- as retailers have taken steps to simplify the mobile-shopping process. "People were taking advantage of their mobile phones to compare prices once they were inside stores," said Siva Kumar, CEO of TheFind.com, a product search engine.
