New York to spend $5.3B on infrastructure, Bloomberg says

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg last week announced plans for more than $5.3 billion in infrastructure projects. During a radio address, Bloomberg said the projects would create about 1,800 new construction jobs. He noted that investing in infrastructure also creates economic opportunities. "And not making those investments is just short-sighted," he added. "Even in tough times -- no, especially in tough times -- these are projects we can't afford not to build."
