Report: Catastrophe losses to slump to about $24 billion this year

Property/casualty insurers are expected to suffer about $24 billion in catastrophe losses in 2009, down 52% from last year's figures, according to a report from Swiss Re. Insured losses from natural disasters are estimated at $21 billion, while man-made catastrophes could cost $3 billion, the firm said.
