Leaders tend to either focus their energies inward on team-building and delivering results or outward on networking and organizational politics, writes Gill Corkindale. That's fine, she adds, as long as from time to time you flip things around. "The best approach is to know your default setting and then to make sure that it is not turning into your comfort zone," she notes. "All of the positive aspects of each point above can turn into negatives if they are overplayed."
