Analysis finds 8 million Americans have stopped using credit cards

An analysis by TransUnion, a credit-reporting agency, found that because of bank actions and consumer choices, more than 8 million Americans are no longer using credit cards. A year ago, about 70 million Americans had an active credit card and now about 62 million do, according to the Chicago company. Many of those 8 million Americans may have changed to using debit cards rather than credit cards as the use of debit cards has been increasing steadily over the past several years.
