Women who act in traditionally masculine ways -- assertive, confident, powerful -- often face a backlash from men and women, research shows. That leaves women few choices but to either work within typical stereotypes of feminine behavior or to be careful not to activate any sexual stereotypes. Alicia Morga's answer: flirt. She cites research that shows women who flirt are perceived as more likable and no less competent in negotiations.
