GE executive spells out the benefits of NextGen

U.S. air travel can operate "as precisely as the trains in Europe" with an upgrade to the air traffic control system, says Steve Fulton, a GE Aviation technical fellow and former Alaska Airlines captain. Besides fewer delays, Fulton says the NextGen system will reduce fuel consumption by up to 15% for a typical single-aisle plane, while cutting noise by about 30%.
