Highmark responds to joint ASNC-ACC editorial

A week after the ASNC and American College of Cardiology placed a joint editorial in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette criticizing insurer Highmark for using different criteria to direct some patients to ultrasound stress tests rather than nuclear stress tests, Highmark responded. Highmark CMO Dr. Donald Fischer writes "[s]tress echocardiography in the hands of a skilled physician can be a more cost-effective and safe means of imaging for some patients."
