Senate Democrats say they will expand a probe into the "mini-med" health insurance policies offered by many low-wage employers and will scrutinize policies offered by Aetna and Cigna. Critics say the mini-meds' payout caps force many low-wage employees to pay for their own care. "They're junk plans. ... Unfortunately, virtually all consumers of these products don't realize it until it's too late," said Stephen Finan of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.
