Are eco-ratings bad for corporate sustainability?

Companies are getting bombarded with requests for data from self-appointed eco-rating groups, CSR professionals say. That's leading some investors to simply ignore rankings and ratings. In response, many companies are seeking rating systems that fit what they do. "We want to make sure we are sending the right signals, measuring the right things," says Jeff Rice, Wal-Mart sustainability chief.
