Bingaman plans to unveil a clean-energy standard bill next year

Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, is planning to offer legislation early next year that would require a percentage of the country's electricity to come from renewable sources. The legislation would include findings from a recent report from the Energy Information Administration, said Bingaman. "The insight that EIA experts have included in this report will help inform the [clean-energy standard] legislation I am developing and planning to introduce early next year," Bingaman said.
