Facebook, FTC settle privacy charges

Facebook and the Federal Trade Commission have agreed to a settlement after regulators accused the social network of "unfair and deceptive" privacy practices. The FTC said Facebook had shared users' personal data with advertisers and application developers, and had publicized data that users had sought to keep private. In response Facebook vowed to improve its privacy practices.
