Study finds early suicide attempts among youths

Almost 40% of young adults aged 18 to 19 with a history of suicide attempts admitted to making their first attempt before entering high school, according to a study in the Journal of Adolescent Health. The study of 883 youths found a significant increase in suicide attempt rates around sixth grade, with rates peaking around eighth or ninth grade.
