Redbox Instant, the video-streaming service being jointly developed by Coinstar and Verizon Communications, may launch Dec. 17 with a basic fee of $6 per month, Dara Kerr writes, citing a report by GigaOm. Six dollars is expected to cover the monthly expense of unlimited streaming access, while $8 a month is said to provide subscribers with up to four DVD rentals. Video on demand will be priced at 99 cents apiece, GigaOm says. Coinstar and Verizon have yet to comment on the report.
