Study: Older antipsychotic drugs may be riskier for elderly patients

Older treatments for mental disorders may carry a higher risk of death among elderly patients than newer medicines, according to a study in the New England Journal of Medicine. The FDA issued a warning earlier this year about a death risk with newer antipsychotic drugs among the elderly, but the latest study indicates the older medicines may be even riskier than the new ones.
