Iowa snowplows use laser beams to avoid obstacles

Iowa has equipped six of the state's snowplows with laser beams to help drivers guide the equipment. The laser beam reaches 60 feet from the snowplow and helps drivers avoid bumping into curbs, mailboxes or other obstacles. Each laser guidance device costs $2,400.
