Weak economy results in fewer new homes in Maine

The weak economy and an abundance of homes on the market have contributed to the decline in the construction of new homes in Maine this year. The number of permits for new homes going up in Maine is just one third of what it was in 2000, according to Construction Data New England. The state's construction industry lost 1,200 jobs in September, according to government statistics.
