Court: Private contractors not liable for flood damage

A federal appeals court this week ruled that federal contractors are immune from liability for flood damage caused by the pre-Hurricane Katrina dredging of the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet shipping canal. Experts noted that the ruling essentially states that private contractors who follow the instructions of the Army Corps of Engineers should not be held liable for damages.
