FAA writing new rules to spare pilots fatigue

Aviation regulators are writing new safety rules about how long commercial pilots can remain at the controls in a single day. While the regulations are expected to be controversial, they are intended to combat pilot fatigue that has led to such recent mishaps as taking off from the wrong runway, errant navigation and a sudden loss of altitude.
