Support is building for nuclear energy in Congress

Congressional Democrats seem to be rallying behind nuclear power, as a number of lawmakers have used the resource to advance their goals on climate and energy policies. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., has inserted provisions on nuclear energy in climate legislation to obtain the support of her colleagues, while the bipartisan duo of Sens. Jim Webb, D-Va., and Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., introduced a measure to increase nuclear production during the next two decades. "There is no longer a political stigma associated with it," said Alex Flint of the Nuclear Energy Institute.
