U.S. DOT forms rail advisory committee on safety

The Transportation Department is forming a 25-member Transit Rail Advisory Committee in response to worsening safety statistics on U.S. railways. Although rail is still one of the country's safest transportation modes, accident rates increased in the five years through 2008.
