Commentary: Bernanke is concerned the recession isn't over

Vernon L. Smith, a 2002 Nobel laureate in economics and a professor of economics at Chapman University, suggests that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke launched another monetary-easing effort because he fears that the recession has not ended. Mr. Smith argues that Mr. Bernanke has reason to be concerned. An increase in housing investment typically signals a recovery from recession, but the market has remained flat.
