Experimental rain gardens sprout on properties in University City, Mo.

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District has created rain gardens at six residential properties in University City, Mo., as an experiment to test how well they capture stormwater runoff and prevent floods at homes. The agency will check the effectiveness of the gardens after three years, when the native plantings have reached their full growth.
