Wisconsin veterinarian leads battle against Johne's disease

As coordinator of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and chair of the U.S. Animal Health Association's Committee on Johne's Disease, veterinarian Elisabeth Patton educates cattlemen and veterinarians nationwide about this bacterial infection of cattle that causes poor growth, decreased milk production and early culling. Coordinating with other groups, Dr. Patton's work has led to online resources, certification programs and other educational tools.
